The 13th annual Trees for Tots event, hosted by the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, took place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, and achieved remarkable success. This one-day community initiative raised $85,000 and collected over 3,600 Christmas trees from the curbside of registered residents in Guelph, Puslinch, and Rockwood.
Trees for Tots is a donation-for-service event that provides an essential community service while raising critical funds for children and youth in need. Participants contributed a suggested minimum donation of $15 to have their Christmas trees picked up and sustainably repurposed. The trees collected during the event were chipped and utilized for various community projects, including creek restoration and walking trail development at locations such as the Guelph Arboretum and Marden Park.

Jodi Carreiro, Community Engagement Manager at the Children's Foundation, emphasized the dual impact of the initiative, highlighting its role in both supporting vulnerable youth and promoting environmental sustainability. “Every tree picked up, every dollar raised directly supports children and youth in our community, while also contributing to some great environmental initiatives,” she said.

All proceeds from the event directly benefited the Children’s Foundation, aiding its mission to connect children and youth with essential supports, including food security, recreational opportunities, mental health resources, and educational assistance.
The Trees for Tots program continues to exemplify the power of community spirit, environmental stewardship, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of children and youth.
